Delayed Initiation of Remdesivir in a COVID‐19 Positive Patient

A case of late initiation of remdesivir antiviral therapy in the successful treatment of a patient with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in a mixed medical ICU of a community teaching hospital is presented. Remdesivir 200 mg IV loading dose was administered to the patient on day 13 of illness and was followed by 100 mg IV maintenance dose for next 9 days.  The patient was able to maintain oxygenation saturation on room air on day 17 of illness.
