| Abstract |
A process fAT tthe preparation of Thennotroplc Liquid
Crystalline gftlcTfJomprlses reacting Terephthaloyl Chloride
TPC with a poly alkylene glycol such as her In
described slowly raising the temperature of reaction form
60 90 C during a period of three hours with stirring
removing the hydrogen chloride formed by conventional
scrubbing adding Hydroqulnone HQ or Substituted Hydro
ulnone to the reaction mixture after the evolution of
hydrogen chloride Is stopped wherein ratio of TPC said
glycol HQ is 1 1 and glycol to HQ ratio ranges from
0.05 0.95 to 0.5 0.5 gaising the temperature of the
reaction mixture to 200 c gradually during a period of
three hours with stirring maintaining the reaction mixture
at this temperature for a period of 15 minutes.
purifying the polymer obtained by extraction with petroleum
